This looks like an interesting device, and while I agree the fact that
it is closed source is offputting, we can provide valuable feedback to
the company regarding it. If demand is sufficient, if enough sales are
lost, if people are vocal enough about the need for it to be F(L)OSS
before they will buy it, then change can be effected.
This maybe a somewhat naive pov, but I think we have seen sufficient
instances of it to act less cynical than we tend to be.
Markets drive manufacture. Market demand drives design. Informed markets
effect change.
So, Richard, thanks for the heads up on this product, and instead of
griping to him about it, perhaps drop an email to makers, indicating
interest BUT for closed source software, lack of Linux support, and the
need for more penguins.
in my humble (look, it really is, so there, and that means you, david
lloyd) opinion:)
r;)
Addendum:
Dammit, I wrote a really brilliant email about this, but a flaky hdd
means you get the not so good response. Trust me, the previous one was
so totally amazing, you all would have been stunned with its insight,
wit, and wisdom. Or something like that;)
