Purchasing a Linux PC

I have a 1tb raid 5, of that 800G is from mythtv
recordings which is about a months worth (digital tv
records at around 3g per hour). unfortunately my
fedora  7 is messed up and I cannot get the fedora 8
kernel to recognise my partitions. I have software
raid 5 > lvm  > ext3 partitions and it cannot seem to
mount it.
