I downloaded the DVD QuickInstall (I'd hate to see a slow install!), and 
it almost works.

Things I have issues with:

* The UI occasionally fails to see the media. i.e. I select video and 
the video module starts, but the list is black.
* Organisation of pre-loaded media (i.e. a USB drive with existing 
media, nicely organised in a directory tree) is woeful. It all ends up 
in one big flat list, making finding what you want difficult to say the 
least.
* It's slow. Do not try to run this on a box acting as a hybrid (i.e. 
server and player) that you plan to not leave running all the time. Boot 
times are quite lengthy.
* Mounting samba shares from elsewhere on the network and getting the 
interface to see the media there seems to be impossible.

However, with the correct hardware it really looks like it has a lot of 
potential.
