well, i use kde, so no particular lib hardship. and 1gb of ram? don't be 
silly. works on my offspring's laptop fine with 256mb. i have 512mb, smooth 
no issues.
unlike openoffice, oy vay! i am very happy with abiword/gnumeric thanks:)
