LIRC on Debian

Hi All

As the last part of my MythTV saga I now have to get my remote going.  I 
have a Dvico Fusion RemoteMCE.  I have Googled and know how to configure 
it, but seem to have run into problems with lirc.   Has anybody had 
experience with installing/compiling lirc for this remote.  Any help 
would be appreciated, however I am relatively new to this, so help would 
need to assume no prior knowledge.  I am using Debian Etch with a 
2.6.18-4-686 kernel.
