I use bookmarks synchronizer for Firefox.  That seems to work OK
and it can access via https and (AFIK scp) to upload and download 
the bookmarks file.  It is good because it handles merges well.

There are a few online places to hold bookmarks.  Google is one.
I don't really trust them as far as I can throw them so I just 
manage my bookmarks on my private FTP server and update them when
I get home (with bookmarks synchronizer).

I've never had any complaints about it :)
