By an "Exchange" backend, though, what do you actually mean? Eudora is a
mail client and really has little to do with the implementation of
backend services...
I've never quite gotten Exchange servers apart from noting that:
- they seem a tad complex to administer
- they don't seem to be terribly efficient MTAs
[this could be because I've only seen poorly deployed installations]
- they seem to provide some form of collaboration server with Outlook
as the collobaration client
I think what you're asking is, will this move create a server which
might replace Exchange's collboration functionality/use cases...at least
that's one reading.
There's no logical reason it would.
If what you mean is: will the Open Source Eudora connect with Exchange
servers as seemlessly as is possible, then I don't know. Taking Qualcomm
at its word - and assuming that the closed source Eudora does [I don't
kno :P] - then the answer might be 'yes'.
However, there's too many "ifs" and "assumptions" in my last paragraph
for me to feel confident about what I'm saying though.
