Video transcoding elp

I have a sony HDD cam and if it's the same then they are MPEG2 streams 
ant not avis.

(or they now support avi format)

you  may need the mpeg2 codec to play them

Just a thought. Of course they may be avi from mpeg2 with 0 compression 
resulting in a similar sized file to the original but why would anyone 
do that.
