Just one point to add. I see David mentioned at the beginning of this 
thread that he had just acquired an Intel Core Duo with 4Gb RAM. I read 
during the week that, because of the way Intel has organised its RAM 
access, you don't actually get 4Gb RAM in this case. Apparently the top 
800Mb or so is unavailable as the address space has been mapped for IO 
purposes.
