They're squid codes - same style as http, they usually refer to the presence
or absence of a file in the cache, e.g. a miss is a file that wasn't in the
cache and had to be fetched, a hit is a file in the cache already. According
to the faq, a TCP_NEGATIVE_HIT is:
Request for a negatively cached object, e.g. "404 not found", for which
the cache believes to know that it is inaccessible (Also refer to the
explaination for negative_ttl in your squid.conf).
