Re: Buying a wireless pc card

Just thought I'd share my experience getting my Netgear WG511 (Prism chipset - 802.11g card) to work under Linux.

After a few kernel recompiles, realising I had a bad cvs snapshot, and other hold backs, I've managed to get my WG511 working under Fedora Core 1 with 2.6.0-test11.

Support is available from www.prism54.org, however, expect no stable releases at this stage. You have to grab a CVS snapshot and either compile support as a module or patch your kernel.

It seems the card now works fine, if you (or anyone else) needs a hand getting it going, I'd be happy to help out.

Cheers
