I haven't done this, but I imagine it depends on if the kernel you'd use for 
rescue has the support for the new hardware compiled in. provided it does, 
and you can access all the needed tools, I can't see why there should be a 
problem (which only means I haven't seen one, not that there isn't one 8^)
