Your ISP might take a dim view of that.  If they have put an idle timeout
on your line then you can be reasonbly certain that they don't want you
to tie up their line doing nothing.  It wouldn't be too hard for them
to recognise if you try to artificially keep it busy.  Also, some ISPs
prioritise low-usage subscribers over high-usage subscribers, and you will
end up becoming a high-usage subscriber, without getting any real benefit.
