SuSE 8.1, paranoid security, no su or sudo.

Argh!

I've just built up a minimal install system of SuSE 8.1 Pro. and being
somewhat paranoid, enabled the Paranoid Security settings in Yast2.

After applying that, I shutdown the box and took it to the colo
facility. I can now ssh to the box and login as a normal user but
cannot su to root or even run sudo (complains it needs the suid bit -
which the paranoid settings remove).

Does anyone know of a way to:

  a) get SuSEconfig to run from an underprivileged account such that it
can make privileged changes
  b) su to root or gain a root shell somehow
  c) reboot the machine remotely with only an unprivileged account in
the hope the new "Secure" settings set in Yast2 get applied on bootup.

I don't fancy having to go back to the colo place to login at the
console unless I really need to.

Dave
