Hmm... with the setup method I specified in the original post, I
just tried booting with Pri. IDE unplugged, then with Sec. IDE
unplugged, and both times it worked fine.
According to: # info -f grub -n install
grub stage 1 only looks for stage 2 on a specific drive if the 'd'
option was passed to >install in the grub shell. I'm guessing that
>setup does not do this.
