Liebert UPS's are also worth a look. They come with a cable and
Multilink software (for Linux) out of the box. I run one here on my
Redhat 7.2 server and it works a treat. Very good value for money too.

The Multilink software is also networkable and even cross platform (I
have monitored my Linux server's UPS from a Multilink client running on
Windows98 (cough!). The only downside is multilink under Linux is an X
(java based) application so if you want to view the UPS status you'll
either need to run the client on a graphic workstation (as above) or run
vncserver/client to view the UPS. I have done both and both work very
well.

All the usual features included (e-mail/pager notification, auto system
shutdown and UPS reset, etc, etc). All this is fully configurable.

www.liebert.com for more info.. or www.bmstech.com.au for the Adelaide
wholesaler. My unit is the "Liebert PowerSure Proactive 700VA UPS
(420W)".. runs my server and DSL link for about 45 minutes before low
batt.

Cheers,
Graham Smith
