I just bought a machine with a Benq CDRW and Pioneer DVD. Both gave
intermittent (handful of bad bytes wrong in 640Mb copy) problems which
had me pulling what little hair I have out. The machine also
had extra IDE ports, 3 disks, etc. Tried different controllers, different
cables, etc, etc. Write off 2 weeks.

Replaced both opticals with 2 Sony devices and all problems vanished.

Would I ever buy a Benq or a Pioneer again?

Definitely.

Until someone can demonstrate that proof by the odd bad
experience is better than proof by solid statistics.
