Samba Auth w/ firewall?

Tuesday Greetings! 


If I have a Unix system in a DMZ with a Live IP Address running e-mail,
how can I get that system to authenticate its users behind the firewall
between it and my Windows Server using PAM_Winbind?

Configuring PAM shouldn't be a problem, but I am uncertain what I need to do
in regards to the firewall.
