RE: Exchange

I am planning a migration from W2K server to Linux in the near future,
and have chosen Samsung Contact as the exchange replacement. It's a
little pricy to license, but certainly no more expensive than exchange
and reportedly far more scalable and reliable. Contact supports 99% of
Outlook's functionality using Outlook as the client and also has it's
own client software which runs on a few platforms.
www.samsungcontact.com if you're interested.

I searched high and low for a suitable open source alternative and could
not find anything which was exchange-like enough. The only one which
came close used Cyrus IMAP server and a client application which
synchronised the Outlook pst file(s) with the IMAP store. This was
heavily limited, however.

If anyone finds a good open source (or another commercial) alternative,
please let me know.

Cheers,
Brad

Does anyone remember a HOWTO appearing on how to get rid of Microsoft
Exchange and implement a Unix equivalent solution instead?

Some idiot on this NT discussion list I'm on asked for a book on MS
Exchange, and I always enjoy stirring the pot by pasting linux solutions
to their NT problems.

Because it's fun.

And after all that, they *STILL* help me out when I've got NT problems
:-)
