A PhD student at Adelaide University I was helping, developed some
scripting automation for a free (possibly only as in beer - I don't
recall) package that did this kind of thing. The scripts aren't important,
but the package he based it on certainly would do what you want.
Unfortunately I can't remember what the name of the software was. It may
only have run only on windows (if the plaform is important in this case -
sorry). I've bcc'd this to him so he should get in touch with you.
