If you know LFS well enough to have successfully install it, I'm sure the
minor issue of installing a DSL modem isn't going to be too much trouble :P
I don't know many who consider LFS to be a major Linux Distro though...
I would use what ever you are most comfortable with, or failing that, what
ever you can get the best support for from your friends, don't choose a Linux
Distro because of hardware support (especially for something that should work
with most Distros) but rather choose something that best suits your needs.
(For me thats Debian, but that doesn't need to be your choice)
