About sendmail log file
Hi,
I am running sendmail-8.12.5-7 with poprelay-1.1.41 under RH8.0.
System was working fine until recently poprelay stopped recording ip
addresses of users logging in for mail from outside. When I look at the
problem, I found that sendmail was logging in /var/log/maillog.1, instead of
/var/log/maillog.
After running "kill -HUP <pid of syslogd>", sendmail went back to logging in
/var/log/maillog, so poprelay started recording ip addresses accordingly.
Can some on on list give me some pointers, or direct me to relevant docs, in
terms of sendmail's logging system? How they are organize? What
administrative power we have as administrator etc?
Any pointers would be highly appreciated.
Damar
