RE: Alpha - Redhat 7.2

Hi Mark,

I recall you had a problem originally trying to configure the Mylex RAID
controller, with the AlphaBIOS you should beable to configure this now? (may
be another solution...). I would recommened checking out
http://www.alphalinux.org/ there is heaps of documentation on Alpha's there.
Under the "milo howto" I believe there is a section with milo (boot strap
for alpha linux) floppy images.

Note: I don't think it is possible to boot off an IDE device on old Alpha's.

Regards Dale,

Guyz and galz,

Has anyone had experience with booting from an IDE harddrive on an
AlphaServer 400?
Neither the SRM or the AlphaBIOS seem to be able to detect or boot from any
IDE devices.
I'm guessing that i need to boot from the floppy (or network).
But as I can't boot into the system I can't create the appropriate
floppy(s).

I can boot from the scsi cdrom (how i installed redhat7.2) but this didn't
give
me the option to create a bootdisk like the i386 version does.

Any assistance would be greatly apprieciated.
And if 'RTFM' comes to mind, could you tell me which one,
I've scoured the net, found people with the same problem, but have found no
answers.

TIA,

Mark.

PS. If i have no luck you'll be seeing me at the next installfest to pick
your brains ;)
