I've taken a look at your apt-setup.sh script and it really should be
made a formal, Debian package. If you think this is worth it I'm willing
to act as the maintainer of the Debian package and have a go at putting
it into the next Debian release.

You'll probably want to take a quick glance at:

* http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/

...because I suspect I'll have to shift some things around to make it
comply with the Debian Policy.
