I've been using Compaq's for the last couple years. Just upgraded from
an M700 to the last of the E500's, theyre being superceded by the new
Evo model. However price isn't great, but as with all laptops, you get
what you pay for, you may be able to pick up the E500s a bit cheaper now
that they're superceded.
Have to say I'm impressed with the Linux support, no problems at all with
Mandrake, the only issue I have is running it with the docking station,
still
a bit of a pain running dual NICs the same way I run it in Win2000, I have
a fixed IP on the docking station NIC & DHCP on the internal NIC and disable
one or the other in Win2000 depending on which hardware profile I'm in. As
yet I haven't discovered an easy way to do this under linux.
Apart from that it works great, there's even a util for adjusting the screen
brightness ala Windoze..................
