Amanda problem
Hey,
Can anyone tell me if they know of any differneces between the way amanda
does backups for tar based backups and dump based backups.
I had a test config I was using and it was all fine and dandy while I used
tar based backups (FYI root-tar backups) from the standard
amanda.conf file - the only change was a change in the global section
which specifed an excludes-file.
I changed it to comp-user (once again unmodifed from the orginnal
amnda.conf) which a dump based backup as opposed to a tar based backup and
it all went fine except that one disk mysteriously became unaccessable.
Amanda Backup Client Hosts Check
--------------------------------
ERROR: huachuca.tellurian.com.au: [can not access /home/telluria
(/home/telluria): Permission denied]
If I revert that disk to root-tar in the disklist it all runs fine again.
BTW when I say runs fine or doesnt run fine above I mean amcheck
<configuration> runs fine or not, NOT the actaul dumps ruin fine or not.
Any suggestons would be very wlecome, I'm afraid Im rather stumped.
The amanda user is in a group which has full read/write access to the
directroy in question and also the amanda user is ameber of the disk
group.
