Re: VMWare - sharing host OS files with Guest OS?

I seem to have fixed the problem!
I am not sure if this is what fixed it - but I found that the
permissions on the /dev/vmnet* files were not set to global read /
write. I restarted the vmware-config.pl and vmware service and
restarted the virtual machine - it networks fine now!!!
Now I just need to work out how to get the Nvidia drivers to be used
rather than the default VMWare graphics driver

Well, it works very well. I don't know about perfectly :-)

Sure. Sharing the host filesystem so it's accessible by the guest - use
Samba. You've already got half-way there, by the sounds of it...
As for sharing internet access, how does your host access the internet?
Do you dial in direct from the host? If so, vmware-config should allow
you to set up NAT to share your IP address with the guest...

There should be a graphics driver in the VMware install disk. If you
have a version 3 build of VMware, you can access the VMware install disk
from the Tools (?) menu.
See the VMware web site FAQ's about getting your sound running. This is
one area that's not perfect - but it's still not bad!
Cheers,
