SQL Table initialisation (digital DJ)

I am trying to set up an application called digital dj
(www.nostatic.org/ddj) that uses an SQL database to draw it's playlists
from ripped CD track and album information.

Unfourtunately, when I click on 'log in' under the database host
configuration screen in ddj - it will log in okay (as root) to the
server although when I click on 'initialise database' the console output
indicates that various tables can not be created in the database.

One person has suggested that I check the SQL user permissions for
'ddj'. How do I do this?

Can anyone else indicate why tables may not be created? I've tried
running this from root to no avail.

Any suggestions welcome although I know this is all a little vague -
this is first time I have had anything to do with an SQL server!

Thanks..
