[OT] Wiring new houses for the 'net

I have just been asked by the City about making provision in a new
series of houses so the new residents can easily jump onto the Internet
Highway. While Mawson Lakes carries a requirement for all sorts of
sophisticated pre-wiring in every house that is not being suggested for
this phase of the Salisbury North project.

What do you suggest as a minimum for a new or refurbished house to be
wired for the net?

I was thinking of specifiying CAT 5 instead of nomal phone cabling.
Maybe specifying satellite-capable cabling for the TV connection so
they can handle broadband. What else should I be suggesting to the City?

Cheers, Ian
