You want to have the IP addresses that Telstra assign you bound to the
PPP interface (assuming you've got a dialup connection).
The PPP interface will get a primary address (either assigned by
Telstra to the same thing each time you authenticate, or statically in
your PPP configuration), and you've then got the option of adding
aliases to the interface. The aliases have the addresses that Telstra
have assigned you.
See ifconfig(8). The interfaces get named if:n, where 'if' is the name
of your interface (ie, ppp0) and 'n' is the alias number (eg, :0, :1).
