It's running Exchange, which means Windows NT. The only way one could
remotely administer "one of them" is by using some sort of remote
desktop software like VNC. But that's bad, especially if it's facing
the Internet[1].

I've heard of SSH too, believe it or not :-)

[1] Sure, it should be firewalled, but having a firewall doesn't mean
that you can be slack with security on local boxes.
