Re: Advice on Word processing / Browsing / Spreadsheets

Oh yeah, I use opera for browsing as well. Its 98% stable & good. Some
badly written pages cause it to die, but it supports enough of the ms
proprietry extensions that some msie pages work with it. dvdsoft.da.ru
is one that comes to mind. It complans:

Browser Rejection
You Can NO Longer Use That browser at this location ;-(
Your Browser must be a Mozilla compliant browser
GetRight,or any other FILE RIPPER AID won't be allowed access
Your Browser = Opera/5.0 (Linux 2.4.8-26mdk i686; U) [en]

Hmm this used to be an MSIE only page that I could fake by setting opera
to report MSIE. But as of my tests just then they have changed it to
support mozilla as well. Well, anyway I changed the ID to mozilla and
MSIE and the page worked, and you get the idea of being able to fake
browser identitys to use some MSIE only pages. (just hope they dont
check OS!)

There also are some sites which have some of those pull down menus and
when you pick a selection it causes a refresh with the new settings.
Netscape doesnt support this, so you were stuck, but opera works fine :)
