The thing is, there's a certain definition of "don't go nuts" that
appeals to the ISP owner, and a definition that appeals to the
consumer. They're generally in contradiction of each other.

How much do you pay for your Internet connection? $30 or $40 per
month? Just so you know, the barely covers the cost of the rental of
1/30th of an ISDN PRI connection required to accept your connection.

Then there's data. You're (apparently) an iHug customer, so I daresay
they'd be purchasing their data at "reasonable" rates. It's still
costing them a shitload to pay for the 300-400MB that (I'm guessing
here) you download each month.

Read the archives for *detailed* analysis of the issue, complete with
the political and economic reasons for it being in its current state.
