Re: Dodgy anti-linux tricks? - no
I gave it a go with Konqueror from KDE 2.2.1, with the user agent ID string
set to:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/2.2.1; Linux 2.4.8-26mdk; X11; i686;
en_US, en)
And I received this:

Thank you for visiting the Harvey Norman Web Site.
As Harvey Norman Web Site is designed to work with the minimum browsers of
Netscape 4 and Internet Explorer 4 and we have detected that your browser is
older than this not all of the site functionality will display on your
current browser.
Harvey Noman values you as a customer and recommends that you download for
FREE a newer version of Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.
Your current browser will still be able to use some of the sites functions so
if you wish to view the site before downloading a new browser please click
here.
Thank you for your time.

sites don't even let you do that!
