Anon FTP problems

Before I get flamed for wanting to set up an anonymous FTP server I should
start by adding that it is only going to be used for LAN get togethers with
Friends. It will not be publically available on the net for misuse.

My Problem : I'm running RH7.2 and I have installed WU-FTP and anonymous
ftp. Anonymous users can log in OK and they can access files that I have
placed in there no problems. If they go to the incoming directory they can
upload individual files to it but if they upload a folder with
subdirectories, then only the directory name is copied and that new
directory has the group as "root".

Is this directory access problem due to an error in my /etc/ftpaccess file
?

My 2nd Problem : During testing my "FTP" server sits on a LAN behind a
Smoothwall box using NAT. When I connect to it from a Windows PC it connects
immediately. When I take my "FTP" server to a LAN and myself or my friends
try to connect to it it takes about a minute to connect. There must be
something that the Smoothwall box is doing ( DNS ? )

I've tried adding an IP and an Hostname in /etc/hosts file but this doesn't
seem to help.

Regards

Michael ( Learner plates ! )
