I'm actually struggling to get stuff that workd right first time every time
and is exactly what I ordered, and is easy to order. It seems that whenever
I order a PC, they've run out of that video card or that hard drive, and I'm
asked to make a decision on the spot on what to replace it with on behalf of
my sometimes fussy (rightly so) clients... It's quite frustrating. I'm
almost of the opinion that the brand names may be worth it for the reduction
in frustration... :)

Of course, this relates to Linux because you go to the trouble of finding
which components are good (or otherwise) with Linux, and then they go and
tell you that's not available...
