Yes, looking for compatibility means compromise and sometimes there is 
no real option but to go down the MS path. Unfortunately MS are 
intent on paving that path with the gold of unsuspecting or desperate 
people who don't think that an alternative exists.

If we can build up the compatibility and show people that they can 
still be close to the MS path without sacrificing their first-born then 
we are well on the way to building an advocate of open source.
