In hindsight you are right of course.  At the time however
it seemed clear to me (wrongly as it now turns out) that it
wouldn't work because it would get the wrong time stamp.
I was asking the list for the best way of overcoming the
difficulty, not realizing that the difficulty wasn't actually
there.
