Operating *system* - a system is a range of things working together to
achieve a common purpose.

Things could include - browser, MUA, chat programs, whatever program you
choose to install!

(thats if you take the literal meaning, we could go on forever fighting
about what is the OS and what isnt, its just a fight that wont go anywhere
though!)
