[silly] FTP is BAD -- maybe not
Does anyone remember this comment by David Lloyd?
http://www.linuxsa.org.au/mailing-list/2000-09/457.html
I quote:
====================================================
Re: ipfwadm commands for FTP data connections
Ftp is bad. Repeat after me: FTP IS BAD :-P
DL
====================================================
Well, this has been playing on my mind since then, and
I've been wondering whether FTP is in fact a simple
translation of BAD. But no matter what I did, I could
not find any trivial transformation to turn FTP into BAD.
But then I looked at FTP and realised what it really means:
FTP - 5 = AOK !!!
Take 5 from the ascii value of each letter of FTP, and
you get AOK. This is a simple translation/transposition code
such as was used in Elizabethan times and crypto
beginners' books.
So someone is trying to send us a message, that FTP is AOK.
But this doesn't match my experience.
Note:
Please do not respond to this message!
Cheers,
ak.
