Not sure if this is of internest, but the Telstra supplied nic for our
cable service was an SMC and cmae with a CD with linux drivers as well as
a floppy with win stuff.

Of ocurse I havent looked at it, because i didnt want it isntalled, but I
note taht SMC is in teh linux 7 kernel config options, so the cards should
be supported under linux - if they are the same as the ones they supply
cable customers.
