Re: MS (temporarily) off the hook - laughs on way to bank!
I have always admired the techincal brilliance and
passionate dedication apparent in the Linux community.
However, it concerns me that one fundamental constant
is always left out of the equation - human nature.
Call it cynical if you wish - but no matter how
techincally brilliant a system is - no matter how
affordable - humans being animals will always tend to
that which is marketed more aggressively and with the
most pretty lights. People in general avoid breaking
out of their comfort zone and will always prefer what
they are familiar with. M$ are fully aware of this
and will exploit it no end. I suspect M$ is structured
more as a marketing and political lobying organisation
than a software development organisation.
Linux will not grow and survive beyond those who make
a conscious effort to search it out and use it unless
there is a concerted marketing and lobying effort.
M$ will always win in that regard.
Unless we take public relations more seriously.
How? I still don't know - but I do know it is
important to consider before we start dancing on any
graves.
