Network Problems
Hello Everyone,
Just recently, a Redhat 7.0 machine (it is permanently connected to the 'net)
stopped communicated with a Cisco 5300A on the same network. The two devices
are connected by a Cisco Catalyst 2900XL switch, and used to be able to
communicate perfectly.
The Redhat machine can not ping the 5300, and the 5300 cannot ping the Redhat
machine. These devices can communicate perfectly to other machines on the
network however.
The two devices have IP addresses, one a Connect IP address, and the other a
Telstra IP address-block. However, I have tried assigning the Redhat machine
an IP address in the same address-block as the 5300, with no luck.
I have checked hosts.allow, and have added the 5300's IP address in there,
just to be sure this is no problem with anything there... Problem still
exists...
Does anyone have any ideas on what caused it/how to fix it? As far as I'm
aware, no device changed configuration during this time - something must have
though... I have also tried moving the port the Redhat machine is connected
into the switch on, with the problem still existing.
Thanks in Advance,
~Rhett
