My suggestion is to go to any shopping mall and wander around looking at
phone shops. Listen to all the sales spiels but don't purchase any phone
on the day - make a resolution to do that because it will be easier to
decline an offer to buy from the sales person. Bring your pen and paper,
palm pilot or whatever and jot notes or take pamphlets and sit down and
make an informed decision of your own.

Oh, did I mention "one that works" would be a good start ;-)
