I couldn't agree more. I saw a school the other day that had two room
fulls of new (PIII 500, 128MB RAM etc.) PCs, three Compaq proliant
servers (On wheels :-) and completely cabled. Not one of the PCs worked.
Not one of the staff there new the Administrator passwords for any of
the servers.

Without the guidance of someone who knows what they're doing, it's
almost not worth the effort. This doesn't mean that schools _need_ a
full time System Admin (although it would be ideal), but they should be
spending a portion of their IT budget on getting this guidance. It's
worth it in the long run.
