Sendmail - POP3 server problems - timeout

I have just upgraded to mandrake 7.2 and i am having many problems trying to
get my mail server up and running under mdk7.2

Firstly i couldnt get sendmail to start, i have rectified the problem
though, thanx to all that contribed.

I now have this problem - sendmail starts
				- INETd starts
BUT, i cannot access this from my desktop PC! It just times out.

I have nothing listed in the hosts.deny file. I have no ipchains set. There
should be no reason why i couldnt have access to the server.

I am guessing i do gain access to the server because of this log -

<snip>
Apr 20 20:08:29 woja ipop3d[805]: pop3 service init from 192.0.0.1
Apr 20 20:09:49 woja ipop3d[805]: Login user=adam host=[192.0.0.1] nmsgs=0/0
Apr 20 20:09:49 woja ipop3d[805]: Command stream end of file while reading
line
user=adam host=[192.0.0.1]
Apr 20 20:09:49 woja inetd[612]: pid 805: exit status 1
<snip>

This shows that it connects?? but doesnt do anything??

where should i start??

if i try and send mail from the desktop through the server (mdk7.2) it does
the same thing.
Although i cannot find anything from sendmail in the logs.

I had this server running sendmail PERFECTLY with slackware... sometimes i
wish i had never "upgraded" :/
