Just a note, dont bother trying to install the latest version of
php+gd+jpeg6 on a redhat 6.2 box unless you have completely upgraded [1]
libc.

[1] I mean successfully and cleanly. I have succeeded in screwing my
system so that there is a mixture of libc/glib versions and stuff just
wont compile. sigh.
