i have a low cost capture card and i cant remeber the chipset. its the most 
comon one to my knowledge. (which hardly works on windows) working fine on 
linux (mandrake 7.2). i use kwintv. i didnt get any drivers for it.  it just 
works. :) 

as for video editing software.. i havnt looked.
