I can see this also having appeal for people who are well behind the 
cutting edge of technology, and who don't want much more than email. 

There are lots of pensioners, invalids, etc who have 386s; quite capable 
of running the Win 3x Eudora Light to receive pictures of their latest 
grandchild. But who find themselves increasingly shut out of other ISPs 
because their computer can't run the latest TCP/IP authentication or an 
ISP-specific version of IE/Outlook Express. 

I think that an ISP that still offered a good generic POP3 dialup email 
service, that these folk could use, would become rather popular. 
Especially if it was advertised along the lines of "we don't discriminate 
against older computers".
