Samba 2.2.0 problem!
I have currently tried to set up samba 2.2.0 on my linux machine as a "file
server" to a number of windows 98 boxes - to no avail (again)
Heres the go. Firstly i got windows to be able to recognise the linux share,
but not access it. It asked me for a password, which i entered a number of
different passes, e.g usernames added to smbpasswd and also the root passwd
and it didnt work.
I then tried using a smb.conf file found at linuxnewbie.org. This made my
network totally unbrowseable - because it makes the linux box the master
browser??
When i smbclient -L woja (hostname of linux)
it lists all the right computers and everything.
And it also lists the linux box as the master browser.
I am able to browse the other computers by the \\computername command. BUT
when i go into network neighbourhood and click on entire network, i get the
error network unbrowseable or whatever.
I have tried both adding the IP of the smb server in the wins section in
network settings on the windows box and also leaving it out and this doesnt
make any difference.
Yes i do have the username and right password added to smbpasswd.
I cant see why i wouldnt be able to browse my network... I was running
slackware 7.1 with samba 2.0.7 as the master browser very well.
Any suggestions?
heres my smb.conf file.
